My friend Margo and I took a road trip to Fayetteville, Arkansas and stumbled upon Nightbird Books, a locally-owned book store. I picked up this book, “The Elegance of the Hedgehog” by Muriel Barbery. The clerk, a young baubled lady who may have been the owner or manager, noticed me reading the dust jacket and skimming the pages.
